The Devil is in the Details

Gregorian offset antenna design

By adding a sub reflector to the antenna system we can shape the beam better and radically improve performance. The feed arm also gets shorter and sturdier. Test this by shaking it, and then shake that of another system.

Encapsulated Pod

Our Drive-Away systems antenna, feed arm, and waveguides are totally encapsulated in the pod during transport. This protects them from sand, dust and grit. It also gives the antenna system a low profile and low wind drag.

Grachical user interface

Even as an expert you want to focus on more important things than setting up the antenna. Our Suitcase has a web based, step by step, interface to help the operator to deploy. Satellites are pre-stored. Even an non-expert user can operate the system.

Sealed Suitcase

Sand, dust and mud doesn't mix well with electronics. Our Suitcase system are totally sealed to prevent that from happening. It is tested and sealed to class IP54 (IP65 in the military version)

Crate-and-platform

Our Fly-Away transport crate simply unfold and forms the platform for the antenna. No empty crates or lost lids. In addition it keeps the weight down for transportation and gives a low profile, highly wind stable platform during transmission.

Integrated skid plate and wheels

Standing alone at an airport with a mountain of equipment, or single handedly moving everything the last 100 m from the car to the transmission site can be daunting. The Fly-Away crate had integrated inline skating wheels transforming it to a trolley.

Strong Lightweight antennas

A good antenna is rugged, stiff, yet lightweight. Most of our antennas use a sandwhich construction with carbon fiber placed on a honeycomb kernel. You can actually stand on the antenna without breaking it or deforming its sub-millimeter tolerance surface.

High precision fasteners

Everybody can take an antenna and saw it into pieces. The trick is to do both this, and then find a way to assemble the antenna without deformning its original shape. For our Suitcase antenna we have developed special fasteners that allow for thousands of snap-on and snap-off without loosing the tolerance. Check this critical detail on any fly-away system you consider.

Many overlook the details; but it's the smallest details that make or break a good idea or product. At SWE-DISH, we are constantly traveling with and using our own products. We also spend a lot of time discussing and listening to our customers' ideas for product improvements. The best ideas find their way into our products. Listed are just a few examples.
