SWE-DISH launch a new generation of HMO
SWE-DISH Satellite Systems AB have launched a new generation of the popular HMO (Highly Mobile Office). The new generation of the HMO has enhanced security features and increased functionality, such as support for integrating UHF and VHF radio networks into its IP based infrastructure.
The HMO product
family was introduced in 2003 as complement to our SatCom terminals. It
provides a complete and integrated solution for voice, data and video
communication over secured broadband satellite links. Since then, many
networks based on this concept have been installed and commissioned.
SWE-DISH SatCom terminals with integrated communication solutions have
successfully been deployed worldwide over the years, for example with
the Swedish Rescue Service Agency in Indonesia 2004 for the Tsunami
relief efforts, US Authorities during Hurricane Katrina 2005, and
during a Singaporean disaster relief mission to Central Java Earthquake
2006.
HMO product family comes in two versions: first the HMO
Flight case for command posts with more than 20 users; and secondly the
HMO Briefcase optimized in size and weight. HMO products are engineered
to give users the fastest, most compact, lightweight and rugged means
of establishing a forward communication post. The HMO Briefcase offers,
together with IPT Suitcase, a compact communication solution. With only
two cases and a total weight of approx 50 kg, it can support up to 20
users in the field with phones (wired and wireless - both analogue and
IP), LAN/WLAN connections for computers, video conferencing, video
streaming and RoIP (Radio over IP, an UHF or VHF radio network can be
integrated in to the HMO's IP based infrastructure). This extremely
compact and highly mobile command post can be established in less than
10 minutes by a single person. The solution is so compact and
lightweight that operators can easily bring it by themselves on an
airplane, helicopter or small cross country vehicle.
Lars Jehrlander, CEO at SWE-DISH Satellite Systems, says
"Our SatCom terminals have over the last years increased their
performance, even our smallest terminal the IPT Suitcase is today
capable of delivering a 4 Mbps link directly to the user in the field.
With our new generation of HMO products, these massive satellite links
can now be utilized much more efficiently, and the traffic is securely
distributed over a large area through tactical WLAN and radio networks.
It doesn't matter if it is for a military command post on the battle
field or a disaster recovery solution for a civilian organization, it
will give communication capabilities never seen before."
