SWE-DISH is seeing fast growth in Asia
SWE-DISH Satellite Systems is seeing fast growth for satellite systems among broadcasters in Asia. Customers over the last six months include KBS, MBC, and NDTV. SWE-DISH has in the last six months of 2003 sold over 25 satellite systems in Asia.
SWE-DISH Satellite Systems, a world-leading supplier of mobile satellite communications equipment for broadband applications, is seeing fast growth among Asian broadcasters. Customers over the last six months include KBS (the largest national Korean broadcaster), MBC (the largest private Korean broadcaster), and NDTV (India’s second largest Hindi speaking news channel). The customers has procured both fly-away, drive-away, and IPT Suitcase systems. In total, SWE-DISH has sold more than 25 systems in Asia over the last six months of 2003.
“We are growing in Asia. I think there are three main reasons behind this: Many Asian broadcasters are currently investing in new satellite communication equipment to strengthen their capabilities for news coverage. Our equipment has got a very good reputation in the Asian market. And our recently established Hong-Kong office gives us the ability to respond faster to customer demands.”, says Lars Jehrlander, CEO of SWE-DISH.
Notably, there is a large interest among Asian broadcasters for the SWE-DISH IPT Suitcase. The SWE-DISH IPT Suitcase is the world’s most compact and quickest-to-air satellite terminal. The IPT Suitcase, with its one-person operation and exceptional technical performance, allows live 2 Mbps broadband transmission from virtually anywhere in the world. Asian customers that have jumped on the IPT Suitcase bandwagon over the last 6 months include KBS, MBC, and NDTV. They are joining e.g., the Japanese broadcasters NHK and NTV.
“Asian countries are traditionally often early adopters. But I think it also goes beyond that. Several of these countries work on extremely competitive markets, and the IPT Suitcase helps them getting an edge in attracting the attention of their audiences”, says Dan Dia-Tsi-Tay, head of SWE-DISH’s Hong-Kong office.
