U.S. Marine Corps’ SWAN Program to Deploy Suitcase® SATCOM and Baseband Solution from DataPath

DataPath’s Integrated Systems and SWE-DISH Divisions Deliver a Compact, Quick-to-Air SATCOM Solution to Extend the Network and Enhance Warfighter Mobility

Duluth, Ga. – Oct. 29, 2007 – DataPath, Inc., a leading provider of satellite and wireless communications networks around the world, has been selected by the U.S. Marine Corps to provide an ultra-portable satellite communications (SATCOM) solution for the Support Wide Area Network (SWAN) program, enabling the Marines to extend the network and improve warfighter mobility while they establish and maintain broadband communications on the battlefield.

 The DataPath solution will include:
- SWE-DISH IPT Mil Suitcases (AN/USC-68), quick-to-air terminals that are small enough to be carried as suitcases or
  backpacks.
- Customized, portable baseband kits providing NIPRnet, SIPRnet and voice-over-IP services.
- Technical support services that include training and field engineering from DataPath’s experienced support personnel.

The multi-year contract award, with options, could total up to approximately $30 million, including an initial delivery order of $1 million.

“With DataPath’s acquisition this year of SWE-DISH and its line of innovative, small broadband terminals, we looked to enable warfighters to extend the network edge beyond its traditional boundaries,” said Stephen Lindeman, vice president and general manager of DataPath’s Integrated Systems Division.  “This is critical to users such as the Marines, who will now be able to go virtually anywhere and still have access to critical intelligence video from UAVs, logistics data and other vital information via high-bandwidth satellite communications. By combining the Suitcase product with DataPath’s comprehensive systems and in-theater expertise, we deliver to the Marines a reliable, robust and highly mobile communications solution.”

The SWE-DISH IPT Mil Suitcase has been deployed by allied military and government organizations throughout the world. The Suitcase system has an advanced, user-friendly design that makes the terminals very easy to transport and set up, achieving satellite acquisition in less than five minutes. The Suitcase features easy, one-person operation, an intuitive graphical user interface, automatic antenna pointing and auto peaking, and rugged military-ready construction.

SWAN is an integrated, IP-based tactical communications program that utilizes commercial satellite terminals, network baseband equipment, wireless systems, software and technical support personnel from DataPath to provide forward-deployed Marines with robust communication capabilities. DataPath has supported SWAN since the company worked side-by-side with the Marines to launch the program in 2004. The company has been awarded more than $50 million in contracts for the SWAN program in 2007.

Program Manager WIN-T's Commercial SATCOM Terminal Program at the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command in Fort Monmouth, N.J., made the award through the Worldwide Satellite Systems contract.
